It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the passing of Capt Harry W. Tabak MSc. BSc. BASc. AVI. AFNI. AFRIN at the age of only 63 years old
Harry was an esteemed member of the committee of The Nautical Institute Netherlands Branch. His knowledge and friendship wil be missed by all in the branch.
During his seagoing career, Harry sailed for Lucitania, Mc Dermott and Heerema before becoming a Rotterdam Pilot. During his career Harry developed the ISPO standard for pilot organizations. He has always been an advocate for risk based design of procedures, maritime operations, spatial planning, and ships’s design within and outside the pilot organization. His work has been gamechanging in many aspects of the maritime world.
