On Friday, 26 June 2026, The Nautical Institute Netherlands Branch, in cooperation with MARIN and @MARIN, will host an afternoon seminar on Shore-based Pilotage (SBP). This event will bring together both maritime professionals and researchers to explore the development, application and future of SBP in a rapidly evolving operational environment.

The programme will include presentations on the SBP process, the education and training of SBP pilots, the risk management framework behind SBP, conclusions and recommendations, and future expectations. The seminar will conclude with a MARIN demonstration related to remote pilotage research for autonomous vessels, followed by drinks and informal discussion.
