It is with deep sadness that the Netherlands Branch of The Nautical Institute announces the passing of our esteemed committee member Marius Bakker. Marius passed away unexpectedly on 3 November 2025 while on vacation.
Marius was a dedicated maritime professional whose commitment, warmth, and collegial spirit made a lasting impact on our branch and on everyone who had the privilege of working with him. His thoughtful contributions, steady presence, and genuine passion for the maritime community will be remembered with great respect and gratitude.
Our thoughts are with his family and all loved ones during this difficult time. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family on behalf of the entire NI Netherlands Branch community.
Marius will be greatly missed, but his legacy and spirit will continue to inspire us.
